Marc Marquez lifts the winner's trophy after ending his eight-year wait for victory at Sepang with his seventh win of the season.

Marquez Leads From the Start

Marc Marquez controlled the Malaysian Grand Prix from the first lap. The Ducati Lenovo rider started second but passed pole-sitter and younger brother Alex Marquez at the start to take the lead.

While Alex came under pressure from the riders behind him, Marc kept pulling away. He crossed the line in 40 minutes 14.236 seconds, 4.172 seconds ahead of Red Bull KTM’s Pedro Acosta. Alex Marquez of Gresini Ducati finished third.

Acosta Takes Second

Acosta, who won Saturday’s Sprint, passed Alex Marquez on lap 10 to move into second place. However, he could not close the gap to the race leader and had to settle for second.

Third Sepang Win

This was Marc Marquez’s third win at Sepang, after his victories in 2014 and 2018. It was also his seventh Grand Prix win of the season. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim presented him with the winner’s trophy.

With championship rival Jorge Martin missing the race through injury, Marquez strengthened his lead at the top of the standings.

Heartbreak for Hakim Danish in Moto3

In Moto3, home hero Hakim Danish of MT Helmets-MSI just missed out on a podium. He started third and was still in third place with two laps to go. On the final lap, he lost the position and finished fourth, only 0.226 seconds behind KTM Ajo’s Alvaro Carpe.

Hakim said he tried to overtake at the last corner but ran slightly wide. He added that he gave his best for the fans, his family and his team.

The Moto3 race was won by Aspar’s Maximo Quiles, who has already been crowned Moto3 world champion. Indonesia’s Veda Ega Pratama of Honda Team Asia finished second.

Record Crowd at Sepang

Fans turned out in huge numbers for the weekend. A total of 196,542 people attended over the three days, a new record for the circuit. The previous record was 190,977, set in 2025.
