Tireless Pang Ron-Pei Jing Win Opener in 5th Straight Tournament
Malaysia’s Hoo Pang Ron and Lai Pei Jing beat a Thai pair in straight games at the Korea Open 2026, showing no signs of tiredness in their fifth tournament in a row.
Easy Start in Yeosu
Malaysian independent mixed doubles pair Hoo Pang Ron and Lai Pei Jing, known as Pang Ron-Pei Jing, made a strong start at the Korea Open, a BWF World Tour Super 500 event in Yeosu. They beat a Thai pair ranked No. 76 in the world 21-10, 21-14 to reach the second round.
Pang Ron-Pei Jing have climbed quickly up the world rankings and are now No. 15.
No Rest After Europe
The win was impressive because the Malaysians have barely had a break. They have just finished four tournaments in a row in Europe, and the Korea Open is their fifth straight event.
Their European run had a slow start, as they lost in the first round of the Arctic Open. After that, they reached the semi-finals of the Denmark Open, finished runners-up at the French Open and reached the semi-finals again at last week’s Hylo Open.
Home Pair Up Next
In the second round, Pang Ron-Pei Jing are likely to face a South Korean pair, who will first play an Australian pair in the opening round.
The Malaysians are now chasing their first BWF World Tour crown since forming their partnership.
