Lee Zii Jia Beats Jason Teh in 3 Games to Reach Last 16
Lee Zii Jia beat Jason Teh in three games at the Hylo Open 2026 in Germany, gaining revenge for a past defeat and setting up a likely clash with Japan’s Kodai Naraoka.
Three-Game Win in Saarbrucken
Lee Zii Jia is through to the last 16 of the Hylo Open, a BWF World Tour Super 500 event in Saarbrucken, Germany. The world No. 42 beat Singapore’s Jason Teh, the world No. 33, 21-16, 19-21, 21-17 in the first round.
Lee won the first game, but Teh fought back to take the second. The Malaysian then stayed calm in the deciding game to close out the win.
Sweet Revenge
The victory was a sweet moment for Lee. The two players had met only once before, at the Swiss Open, where Lee lost in straight games in the first round. This time, the former All England champion came out on top.
First Match After Off-Court Matters
It was also Lee’s first tournament since he settled a family legal dispute away from the court. The independent shuttler arrived in Germany in good form after reaching the semi-finals of the Arctic Open earlier this month.
Naraoka Up Next
Lee faces a tough test in the last 16. His next opponent is likely to be Japan’s Kodai Naraoka, the fifth seed at the tournament.
