Barcelona vs Galatasaray: Hosts Strike First

Barcelona travelled to Istanbul for their second match of the UEFA Champions League league phase. The Spanish side had won all nine of their games in all competitions this season. Galatasaray were top of the Turkish league, but they lost their opening Champions League match 3-1 away at Sporting.

Without the injured Raphinha, Barcelona coach Hansi Flick played Fermin Lopez as the main striker, with Lamine Yamal and Anthony Gordon on the wings. Barcelona had the early chances, but Galatasaray scored first in the 27th minute. Rafael Leao broke down the left and passed across goal. Aleksei Batrakov’s shot hit Pau Cubarsi and went in.

Galatasaray put the ball in the net again in the 34th minute, but VAR ruled the goal out for offside.

Cancelo Equalises Before Half-Time

Barcelona drew level in the 43rd minute. Gordon laid the ball off at the edge of the box, and Joao Cancelo ran in to fire home. The score was 1-1 at half-time.

Lamine Yamal Leads Second-Half Comeback

Yamal took over the game after the break. In the 50th minute, he sent a perfect cross from the right, and Fermin headed in to make it 2-1. Three minutes later, Yamal beat his defender near the byline and passed back to Gordon, who scored to make it 3-1.

In the 65th minute, substitute Karim Adeyemi made it 4-1 with a volley after Gabriel Jesus failed to control a pass from Yamal.
