Premier League: Madueke Comes Off the Bench to Give Arsenal 1-0 Win Over Nottingham Forest
Substitute Noni Madueke scored Arsenal’s only shot on target to beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 in the Premier League and move the champions back into second place.
Arsenal Struggle to Break Through
Defending champions Arsenal had a hard time at home against Nottingham Forest in Round 7 of the Premier League. They had most of the ball and kept attacking, but Forest defended deep and stayed well organised. Many of Arsenal’s shots were blocked or went wide, and the game looked set to end 0-0.
Madueke Scores the Winner
The match changed when Noni Madueke came off the bench. In the 79th minute, Declan Rice played a perfect pass to him in the penalty area. Madueke took a touch to set himself and fired the ball into the net.
It was the only goal of the game. Arsenal had nine shots in total, but this was their only one on target. It was enough to give them their 10th win from 11 games in all competitions this season.
Back in Second Place
The win lifts Arsenal to 18 points from seven games, with six wins and one loss. They are now second in the Premier League table, three points behind leaders Manchester City.
